Upcoming Movie - The Song

I came across this movie trailer on Facebook the other day, as Kyle Idleman was promoting it on his page.  Kyle is one of my favorite writers.  If you are not familiar with his work, just check out some previous book reviews of mine: Are You a Fan or a Follower?Gods at War; or AHA - Awakening. Honesty. Action.

Kyle is the executive producer of the film.  His take on this film is a modern day adaptation of Solomon's life.  He references Ecclesiastes as Solomon's search for the meaning of life, as well as Solomon's Song, written as a memory of Solomon's true love, before everything went "wrong."

I am intrigued.  The books of Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs are favorites of mine.  Solomon wrote about the feelings he experienced, good and bad.  He was not afraid to question life and God.  I almost feel like I could identify with Solomon with his view of life.  These are thoughts of a person who struggles with depression.

The movie is scheduled for release to theaters September 26, 2014.  It's definitely not for kids, as it is rated PG13 and addresses adult situations.  Unfortunately, as I watched the trailer I realized I won't be able to see it without the captioning.  Alas, I will wait for the release to DVD/Blu-ray.

"Everything is meaningless," says the Teacher, "completely meaningless!" ~Ecclesiastes 1:2 (NLT)

"Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
its jealousy as enduring as the grave.
Love flashes like fire,
the brightest kind of flame.
Many waters cannot quench love,
nor can rivers drown it.
If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth,
his offer would be utterly scorned."
~Song of Songs 8:6-7 (NLT)
